Area of the month - St Albans

News at Harry Charles | 18/01/2024

This month Harry Charles explores the beautiful and historic city of St Albans. This affluent ancient Roman city offers a wide variety of different facilities that contribute to the convenience and joy of living here. One of its most notable activities is the St Albans market, a 1,100-year-old market which provides over 160 stalls on Wednesdays and Saturdays: Perfect for meandering through or topping up your weekly shop.

This notable area also offers plenty of outstanding schools, in fact, there are 77 in total, both Secondary and Primary, including St Albans Girls School, Heathlands School, Beaumont School, Cunningham Hill Junior School and so on. All the above have achieved an outstanding Ofsted report – so it is a perfect area for any families looking to relocate.  They also offer private school options of St Albans Boys and Girls and St Columbus.

St Albans is famously known for its wonderful cathedral, known simply as “The Abbey” by the locals, it is a beautiful Church of England cathedral that was first founded in 793.

The city also offers plenty of amenities in the form of fantastic restaurants and Café’s, two popular examples being Lussman’s Kitchen, and Petrus, a restaurant owned by Gordan Ramsey himself! Or The Ivy Brasserie which is perfect for brunches or dinners. Near the park you'll find The Waffle House, which is great for family or friends get togethers.  There are also plenty of unique and inspiring boutiques, offering a wide variety of often locally made clothing that you just can’t resist – many of these boutiques being in the Christopher Place Shopping Centre or on the High Street.
