Area of the Month: Northwood

News at Harry Charles | 17/04/2024

This month, Harry Charles explores the exciting and suburban London Borough that is Northwood.

This pretty town is renowned for having the best of both worlds. Filled with green, peaceful roads, as well as three underground Metropolitan line stations; Northwood, Northwood Hills and Moor Park, living here has a more rural feel despite such easy access into London. The public transport infrastructure is so efficient, that there are lines that take you to Baker Street within 30 minutes.

Not only does Northwood have fabulous transport links, but it also provides great Primary and Secondary schools. To name a few Primary Schools with ‘Outstanding’ and ‘Good’ ratings from Ofsted, you have St John’s School, Hillside Junior School and St Martins School. A couple highly regarded Secondary Schools are Northwood School and St Helen’s School, an independent Girls school for both Primary and Secondary School aged children.

Despite being a London Borough, Northwood has plenty of green spaces and surroundings, which include two popular gold clubs, Moor Park and Northwood Golf Club, and Ruislip Woods National Reserve. In addition, the High Street contains plenty of fantastic amenities, with an abundance of restaurants, independent shops and a Waitrose.

If you enjoy working out, the David Lloyd Sports club has a fully equipped gym, tennis courts, swimming pool and much more.

Mount Vernon Hospital is within Northwood with some excellent care facilities.  As Northwood is close proximity to London it is now part of the ULEZ scheme, meaning streets are cleaner and pollution is minimised.
