Last week, Leone and Amanda were delighted to attend the Council-run Landlord Event at Watford Town Hall, bringing together local landlords, letting agents, and housing professionals for an informative and engaging session.

The event opened with a welcome and presentation from Watford’s Mayor, Peter Taylor, who highlighted the ongoing commitment of the Council to improving housing standards and supporting landlords across the borough.

Following this, the Watford Housing Team delivered an insightful talk focusing on damp and mould issues — a particularly timely topic as Awaab’s Law comes into effect. This legislation reinforces the responsibility of landlords and agents to take swift and effective action in addressing damp and mould concerns, ensuring tenants live in safe, healthy homes.

The NRLA (National Residential Landlords Association) also provided an in-depth overview of the Renters’ Rights Bill, outlining the key changes and what landlords can expect once the legislation comes into force. Their presentation helped clarify many of the new requirements, ensuring local landlords are well-prepared for compliance.

At Harry Charles, we pride ourselves on being proactive rather than reactive. Our property management team is already implementing robust practices to ensure our landlords remain fully compliant from the outset. With regular property inspections, responsive maintenance, and clear communication channels, we’re confident our landlords and tenants will continue to benefit from safe, high-quality homes.

Leone and Amanda found the event to be both informative and collaborative, offering valuable insights into the evolving rental landscape and reaffirming our commitment to professional standards and landlord support.

We’d like to thank Watford Borough Council, Mayor Peter Taylor, and the NRLA for hosting such an important and informative event.

Harry Charles remains dedicated to supporting our landlords through these legislative changes — ensuring compliance, protecting investments, and maintaining exceptional standards across all properties.
