Area of the Month: King's Langley

News at Harry Charles | 09/02/2024

This month we explore the vibrant village of Kings Langley in Hertfordshire. The pretty settlement that sits in-between the bustling Hemel Hempstead and quaint Abbots Langley Village has lots to offer. With an abundance of local amenities, it also has close links to London, being only 20 miles from central London. Kings Langley is surrounded by rolling countryside and near the Chilterns Hills too.

King’s Langley is renowned for its close-knit community and being the birthplace of the Ovaltine drink. The original factory is now a listed building next to the canal and has been renovated into a popular housing estate, which Harry Charles let many of the properties to happy tenants.

However, there is more to this village than a warm drink, it also offers Kings Langley Primary and Secondary School, both schools have been ranked as “Good” by Ofsted, meaning it is the perfect place for families with children to settle down. Abbot Hill is also an excellent private school for girls in the village. And Lockers Park for boys not far down the road in Hemel Hempstead.  It also has the renowned doctors surgery The Nap, which caters for the area well.

The M25 passes just south of the village across the River Gade valley, and the A41, a dual carriageway bypasses it and heads to Tring. King’s Langley train station also resides in the village, which runs to London Euston, Birmingham, Tring, Crewe and Milton Keynes Central, so despite being relatively rural, the travel links from this village are second to none.

There is also plenty of entertainment within the village, three popular pubs include The Rose & Crown, The Saracens Head, and The Old Palace. Furthermore, a popular carnival is held in the village each June. The infamous Warner Bros studios, the birthplace of Harry Potter is also just next door. This exceedingly popular attraction sees approximately 2 million visitors a year, travelling from all over the world, whereas you could live right there!

With wonderful walks along the canal, or morning coffee and cake in Fred and Gingers on the high street and cricket on the green at the top of the village, you can really relax into rural life.
